BENDIGO 22/09/19
Trial 1: - HIGHWAY HUNTSMAN began best from the standing start and established a lead of 15m early. He maintained that lead for most of the journey and raced well clear in the latter stages. LADY LIL (I’m Stately – Ourlittlelil 2.3.7, $32,944) began in second position and did everything right in the run to hold down that spot. DELS DESTINY (Pegasus Spur – Sueno) stepped away okay but broke stride shortly after the start and lost approximately 30m. He picked up ground on LADY LIL but remained last throughout.
Mile Rate: - 2.11.5 Final Half: - 62.1 Margins: - 30m, 7m
Trial 2: - SHE WILL ROCK has won at her only start to date and she looked impressive in taking out her trial by a comfortable margin. She trailed the leader early before working to the front with a mile remaining. She was under a strong hold at the finish and was able to carve out reasonable sectionals. AJAY BREEZY ROSE settled three back on the markers and came to the outside with 600m remaining. She worked into second position with CAESAR MOON (Julius Caesar – Bonitas) coming from last to run into a distant third. BLAZING MAGIC (Our Sir Vancelot – Miss Snozz) showed very good gate speed despite wanting to hang in and race greenly in the early stages. He led comfortably before taking cover in the back straight on the final occasion. He lost ground late but is still learning. HEZA BERGSTEIN finished last of the five runners after being four back on the markers throughout.
Mile Rate: - 2.4.2 Final Half: - 57.3 Margins: - 8m, 8m
Trial 3: - CLARKES HILL was able to lead throughout and win comfortably in an uneventful trial. DELLSUN trailed his stable mate TETRA before coming to the outside with 400m remaining and working into second position. TETRA was beaten a large distance at the end in third.
Mile Rate: - 2.5.3 Final Half: - 59.6 Margins: - 40m, 50m
Trial 4: - SARAH BONUS has been unplaced in all of her eight starts to date in New South Wales but she did trial extremely well. She settled last of the five runners and produced a big finish to run over the top of the early leader AMENDMENT THIRTEEN, which is the winner of four races. KIWI KALAHARI (Auckland Reactor – Autumn Princess) settled three back on the inside and was the first to move away from the markers in the back straight on the final occasion. He finished third just in front of MYTHOS (four back markers) and KENANDI DENESE (Falcon Seelster – Golden Illusion) was fifth after trailing the leader throughout.

BLACKBOOKER: - Sarah Bonus
MARYBOROUGH 22/09/19
Trial 1: - Only two horses contested the opening trial with ALLIES MATE setting a slow tempo in the lead with SIXTY trailing. SIXTY came to the outside at the half mile marker and zoomed passed ALLIES MATE. He was driven out at the finish to win by 20m with ALLIES MATE doing his work under his own steam.
Mile Rate: - 2.11.5 Final Half: - 58.7 Margin: - 20m
Trial 2: - FRATELLINO was very good on the Country Cups circuit last season and looked sharp in preparation for another season of Cups racing by winning the second trial. IONA SPIDER finished second after setting the tempo and DOWN UNDER BARKERS was third after trailing the leader throughout.
Mile Rate: - 2.5.3 Final Half: - 59.7 Margins: - 5m, 15m
Trial 3: - GHANASUYA (Mr Feelgood – The Princess Poet) was three back on the markers before gaining the position behind the leader when MOLON LAVE galloped with a lap remaining. He got a run through the centre in the home straight and won with something in reserve. TOUCH OF ARMBRO settled three back on the markers before making a move in the back straight and finding the lead with a mile remaining. He finished second in front of THE GREEN FAIRY, which settled last before looming up on the home turn and peaking late. MOLON LAVE (Fling It – Atego Lilly 2.3.0, $48,992) paced very roughly and had a skip in his action throughout the first circuit where he led out then took cover. He eventually rolled into a gallop with a lap remaining and was tailed off for the remainder of the journey.
Mile Rate: - 2.6.5 Final Half: - 60.7 Margins: - 6m, 8m
Trial 4: - WHIRILY ROLLS was the only horse on the gate in the field of two runners so he led comfortably. FIVE STAR TRUMP was a long way back in the score up and missed the start by approximately 20m. He had plenty of time to tack on and recover in the slow speed before coming to the outside with 800m remaining. The pair then raced together in the final lap with WHIRILY ROLLS just holding an advantage at the finish.
Mile Rate: - 2.11.8 Final Half: - 62.0 Margin: Neck
Trial 5: - ALEPPO MURPHY started off the big handicap of 80m but was able to make up the ground steadily in what was a very slow tempo. He made a sweeping move in the back straight on the final occasion and proved too strong at the finish. CORK jumped sideways as the tapes released but came down trotting and trailed the leader. He allowed ALEPPO MURPHY to roll passed him before he came to the outside and he chased determinedly at the finish. DYNAMIC DIESEL (I’m Stately – Hilltown Ashley) began brilliantly from the standing start and led by almost 20m. He was collared on the home turn but kicked on quite well in the straight. LITTLE YANKEE just went around to trot throughout and was never pushed. He came out and won the next day! ABILINE (Shoobees Place – Don’t Mess With Luv 1.58.8, $12,376) settled three back on the markers but broke stride with 800m remaining and finished last of the five runners.

MELTON 24/09/19
Trial 1: - FLEETWOOD ROCK (Pet Rock – Trojan Fire) has been showing some promise at the Melton trials and he took out the opening event from LETS GET SHORTY (Somebeachsomewhere – Ball Dancer 1.58.7, $90,107), which was having his first trial attempt for trainer Adam Kelly. BRUHAHA was having his final hit-out before heading to Maryborough on Monday and finished third ahead of KATACHA MAN (Bettors Delight – Breeze On Bronski 1.56.8, $47,397). CALL ME HENRY (Major Bronski – Forza Force), which has had several trials recently, finished last of the five runners.
Mile Rate: - 2.2.9 Final Half: - 58.10 Margins: - 1.5m, 2.5m
Trial 2: - MAGICAL MARN was able to gain some confidence leading up to the Claiming Masters on Saturday night with his narrow victory over FLAMING FLUTTER, which hasn’t started since May. There wasn’t much separating the two proven open class pacers with RULE OF THUMB (NR82) coming in last of the three.
Mile Rate: - 1.59.2 Final Half: - 56.80 Margins: - Head, 11.5m
Trial 3: - MISS MAIA showed very good gate speed to lead and set up a slow tempo. She got nicely clear on the home turn before MEGEVE (The Best Madrik – The Kahmotion) rallied late via the sprint lane from behind her and made it an interesting finish. MISS MAIA held on from MEGEVE but both horses had something left at the finish. NAKED AMBITION (Andover Hall – Starcus $55,576) is a nicely bred filly and finished a handy third after losing approximately 30m by making an error in the score up. ARAIGNEE FLAIR (Yankee Spider – Petite Flair 2.4.1, $3,675) galloped at the start and settled last of the five then galloped again in the latter stages. MY LINDY ANGELS (Bacardi Lindy – My Two Angels) galloped in the score up and again at the bell with the second mistake meaning she was tailed off for the remainder of the trip.
Mile Rate: - 2.9.2 Final Half: - 60.97 Margins: - 1/2neck, 5.5m
Trial 4: - NORMANDY BELLE (Ready Cash – Bella Cheval 2.1.7, $38,638) settled three back on the markers before moving up without cover with 800m remaining. She dashed to the lead turning out of the back straight and coasted down to the line to win the trial without being fully extended. GUS AN MAORI trailed the leader MEL DURANT before being held up when NORMANDY BELLE made her spirited move. He finished strongly for second with SUMO GRIN in third after settling last of the four competitive chances and trying to follow up behind NORMANDY BELLE late. MEL DURANT tired to finish fourth and PETITE LOVE did a very big job to finish as close as she did after she galloped away and missed the start by approximately 100m.
Mile Rate: - 2.6.1 Final Half: - 59.80 Margins: - 7.5m, Neck
BLACKBOOKER: - Petite Love
Trial 5: - TRE COOL settled down last of the five competitive runners and moved into the death seat at the 700m mark. He gained cover when IAN RAYMOND left the back of the leader some 200m later before unleashing a powerful sprint at the end to get the prize. MYNAMEISJEFF made a bold bid to lead all of the way but couldn’t repel the challenge of TRE COOL late. He finished second in front of IAN RAYMOND, which battled on reasonably well. That trio got well clear of MAHKSMAN (4 back markers) and THE NEPTUNE KID (3 back markers). COBBITY COVE took no part after failing to score up.
Mile Rate: - 2.0.0 Final Half: - 57.7 Margins: - 5.5m, 4m
Trial 6: - BURNFORU (Courage Under Fire – Allfouru) settled 3 back on the markers and moved into the death seat with 700m remaining. She got to the lead approaching the final corner and drew clear in the straight to win by a comfortable margin. LAKEY LOU finished second after leading out then taking cover behind CONSTANTINA with a mile remaining. WRITERS REIGN (Bettors Delight – Majestic Reign 1.55.5, $60,175) settled five back on the inside and finished off well in what was a moderate last quarter to pick up third. CONSTANTINA led out then took cover but wanted to race fiercely so she circled into the lead again at the 1600m. She tired late and finished fourth ahead of IN A SPIN (Blissfull Hall – Foreverdancing), which settled last of the six runners. ILLAWONG NIGELLA (Mach Three – Illawong Geraldine 1.56.8, $39,011) dropped out to finish last after settling four back on the markers.
Mile Rate: - 2.5.6 Final Half: - 58.53 Margins: - 8m, 7m
Trial 7: - IMA SHOWGIRL settled down four back on the markers and gained the one out and one back trail at the bell. She made her move with 300m remaining and quickly dashed to the lead before holding off ILLAWONG MAESTRO, which came from last of the five runners. OUR MASTER GEORGE led early but finally relented from the pressure of PRINCE MCCARDLE, which pushed until finding the lead at the 1600m. He was then held up for a run at a vital stage and worked home well in the final 100m to pick up third. PRINCE MCCARDLE ended up finishing fourth after working hard to lead then repelling RIVER PATROL, which applied pressure a long way from home after leaving the pegs (in 3rd) to park without cover at the bell.
Mile Rate: - 1.59.6 Final Half: - 55.82 Margins: - Neck, 10.5m
Trial 8: - BISCUIT settled down last before moving to the outside to follow WAR HERO in the final circuit. WAR HERO was able to find the back of the leader in the back straight however and BISCUIT was left stranded without cover. He joined the early leader METRO MAN on the home turn and forged to the front before holding off the late challengers of EXTORTION and WAR HERO. EXTORTION was a good run and might be worth following at Cranbourne on Sunday. He settled three back on the markers before being dragged back by the tiring ANOTHER MORTGAGE leading up to the home turn. He motored to the line once he got to the outside. WAR HERO is a former New Zealander that is now being prepared by Matthew Craven. He boxed on well for a close up third and the trotter ILLAWONG BYRON trialled nicely again by finding the line well from four back on the markers. METRO MAN used up energy to find the lead then raced keenly throughout. He tired into fifth with ANOTHER MORTGAGE dropping out after trailing the leader.
Mile Rate: - 2.1.4 Final Half: - 59.84 Margins: - Head, 1.5m
BLACKBOOKER: - Extortion

I CHOOSE (Bacardi Lindy – Joyces Choice 2.11.2, $4,215) had her chance in the straight after trailing the leader throughout but easily finished second over ZIPPIN AROUND, which galloped away and lost approximately 15m at the start. ROCKFORD PEACH and I CHOOSE are competing in the opening event at Maryborough on Monday with ROCKFORD PEACH having to give away a 30m handicap to I CHOOSE after they commenced on a level mark in the trial.
Mile Rate: - 2.11.4 Final Half: - 60.89 Margins: - 2.5m, 30m
SHEPPARTON 24/09/19
Trial 1: - PRETTYLILANGUS has shown some ability at the trials and came from last of the four runners to win. He did gain the one out and one back trail from the 700m but he extended very nicely in the latter stages. BACARDI WOOD showed good gate speed to lead then took cover and finished well via the sprint lane to pick up second. FLIPPIN ISSY wasn’t far away in third position after being eased at the start and circling into the lead at the mile marker. ANTIGONUS (Yankee Spider – Golden Antigone) dropped back to last after moving from three back on the markers to death seat at the 700m.
Mile Rate: - 2.11.2 Final Half: - 61.3 Margins: - 3m, head
Trial 2: - CRESCO THREEPEAT trailed the leader TENNAYA, which boomed across to the markers from a wide draw, and came to the outside when the field turned for home. He wanted to wander around all over the track in the latter stages but he picked up a narrow victory. MA KATIE (Courage Under Fire – Bromac Del Mar 1.56.5, $43,319) showed ability again by powering along the sprint lane from three back on the markers and just missed out. BLAST AWAY paced awkwardly in the score up but gained a one out and one back trail behind IDA THOUGHTSO at the 1300m and finished well out wide on the track for third. IDA THOUGHTSO galloped momentarily when in the death seat coming up to the bell and lost approximately 10m. She remained in the death seat and finished fourth. The early leader TENNAYA was fifth in front of FALLING SHARDS, which ended up being five back on the markers and galloped momentarily with 600m remaining. ONE OF MY PEOPLE was without cover early before angling onto the markers (4 back) at the 1300m and yielded ground in the back straight on the final occasion.
Mile Rate: - 2.2.8 Final Half: - 59.5 Margins: - Head, Head
Trial 3: - SOFALA was the class runner of the trial and steadily progressed forward to take the lead away from LORNE BEACH with a mile remaining. He coasted around in the lead and was able to slip home his last 800m in 56.4 seconds to win comfortably. LORNE BEACH just held second in front of SHE KEEPS COMING, which raced three back on the markers for the majority of the trip. The eye-catching run came from ADELE SAID, a former Tasmanian now with trainer David Aiken, which came out wide from last and stormed into fourth position. DUKE JUJON settled five back on the markers and beat YERRINGTON BOB (4 back markers) to the line.
Mile Rate: - 2.1.7 Final Half: - 56.4 Margins: - 4m, head
BLACKBOOKER: - Adele Said
Trial 4: - MIRACLE MARCUS has recently returned from Tasmania and was able to glide across to find the lead comfortably in the final trial. Once in front, he always appeared to be in control and he scored with plenty in reserve. ROCKON LOCKSLEY began quickly and was able to find the back of the leader. He tried hard in the straight but he couldn’t pick up any ground on the winner. STARESS settled three back on the markers and held down third just in front of BALLTERRA (4 back markers). ELISKA never left the pegs and was able to get underneath of CRACKED PEPPER to beat that pacer to the line.
